Kwame Ture, aka Stokely Carmichael was a Trinidadian-American thought leader, activist, and is also widely regarded as one of the first and widest reaching voices to call for Black Power. It wasn't a coincidence that it was coming off an action and arrest in 1966 - the same year the BPPSD was officially birthed.
